Juke Joint Festival 5k & 8k run & walk
Registration for the 5k & 8k run will start at 7AM; race starts at 8AM from the historic Greyhound bus station at Third and Issaquena. Awards will be presented at 9:30AM.
ASPIRE motorcycle rally, ride & fundraiser
ASPIRE (Assisting Single Parents In Realizing Education) is a non-profit group the provides scholarships to single parents pursuing college degrees. They wiil hold a motorcycle rally, ride & fundraiser on April 22nd beginning from the old Harvest Foods parking lot at Second and Desoto. Registration begins at 8AM, ride starts at 10AM. Canoe carving demonstration & workshop
At 9AM April 20th, 21st and 22nd there will be a canoe carving demonstration and workshop at Quapaw Canoe Company, 291 Sunflower Avenue in Clarksdale. Other programs include "1 Mississippi-can the river count on you?" and paddling on the Sunflower River. For more information call (662) 627-4070.
Juke Joint Festival parade
The Juke Joint Festival parade begins at 9:30 from Regions Bank at 211 East Second Street. Everyone is velcome to participaate; bring the kids, your favorite instrument or dress up.
Rock wall climb & mechanical bull
Kids age 3 and up can enjoy climing the rock wall or ride the mechanical bull in the 200 block of Yazoo Avenue. Free!
Juke Joint Festival Art & Writing Exhibit
The Juke Joint Festival community art exhibit will be in the Bank Building, 123 East Second Street in Clarksdale. Works from local elementary, junior high, high school and college students will be on display from 10AM to 5PM. Winning entries in the writing contest from 4th grade through college will also be on display.
Children's train rides and petting zoo
Pet and feed the animals from 10AM to 5PM on Issaquena Avenue across from the Dutch Oven. Train rides will begin after the parade and contunue until 5PM. Free for all children.
Free for all ages. Bungee jump will be set up on John Lee Hooker lane in downtown Clarksdale.
Monkeys riding dogs herding sheep
Professional rodeo cowboy Tim "Wild Thang" Lepard leads Team Ghost Riders, a group of sheep dogs and monkeys who provide one of the most entertaining acts ever.
Performances will take place at 10:45AM, 12:45PM, 3:45PM and 5:30PM in the parking lot of the Delta Blues Museum on John Lee Hooker lane.
Races will be held every hour from 11AM to 4PM on John Lee Hooker Lane in downtown Clarksdale.
Birdsong Historic Tours of Clarksdale
Clarksdale historian Robert Birdsong will conduct tours. One seat on the tour is included with each Juke Joint Festival wristband. Tours depart from behind the Greyhound bus station on Third Street at 11:00AM, 12:30PM, 2:00PM, 3:30PM and 5:00PM. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org.
